Back Injury and suspension question

Just found that our delivery date is now March-May of 09. Same day received message to confirm and configure our very own Cabriolet. Can't wait.
Do have one concern as I have not driven one yet. I have a Back Problem like so many others and wonder how the suspension is going to be on my back. Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi BMatthew,

Likewise I had concerns but was very pleasantly surprised with how compliant my Coupe is. The seats are comfy and the ride is A-OK. DON'T ignore speedbumps or curbs! You'll be sorry!

Back injuries are a very personal thing. Every one is different. Keep in mind the Smart is a very small car, and if you are used to a larger, heavier, longer wheelbase car (ALL of them are), the ride will be different from what you are used to. Not necessarily worse, just different.

If possible, visit your local dealer and take an extended (1-hour?) test drive.

Good luck!

Terry

Hi, I just changed the tires out, used KUMO ECSTA AST 205x50x15" Really helped in the ride and handling. You won't get that bad hammering on road joints and holes!! Day and night on the Inter state. Discount Tire had the best price! Hope this helps. p1nball
PS here is the link for the tire change note I also put new wheels on! LINK: http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/for...5x50x15-13655/

I have a bad back and I'm always throwing it out. I too was worried about the comfy factor in the smart since it sits up higher than I was used to. I'm happy to report comfortable driving.

But my back is not yours. I would ask to see if you could do a long-ish test drive.

What I will say is that the new 451's ride is a million times better than the old smart. Plus, better than many small cars here in the UK. Heated seats might help things along too

I agree with Yuckmoon, get a long test drive. Car seats are something you must try for yourself. One persons comfotable seat is someone elses torture seat.
