Beep beep!!

Hey all!! I just wanted to say hello!! I love my Smartee and even it's dumb quirks that it has on occasion such as the door not latching when you close it.....yeah! That is MY ONLY problem! I will take it!! I had to watch it be towed away on a roll back this weekend because of the door latch. I had to tie it up do the door wouldn't blow open on its 2 1/2 hour journey to the garage. I almost cried. It was like watching your child go to school for the first time. I didn't want to see it go, but it needed to for the good of the car. The bonus to this was the fact that when they went to work on it, the door functioned properly!! GRRRRRR!!! So needless to say I wasn't too thrilled to hear that. They are replacing the lock anyway. I hope to get it back on New Year's Eve!

Do you mean door HATCH or Latch? I guess I am confused on if you are talking about the driver or passenger door or your back hatch?

I had trouble with closing the driver and passenger doors at first. It turns out, after some trial and error the doors are so light and the smart is so air tight that you have to just short of slam them to get them shut. I found that cracking the window on the door that is already closed helps tremendously.

Now, if you hatch wouldn't close? Have them check for the alignment problem a few smarts have, and generally I either just allow it to drop shut from about 6 inches or close it and give it a good push in the center bottom edge of the back hatch window. Either generally do the job. Again I think it is because of it being so air tight. (I don't guess the carbrios would have this issue... just the coupes and the pures)

Good luck and hope you get it back soon. I can only image what it would be like, being without my smart. I would go nuts.

Happy New years all! Be safe and kind out there...

Garage
I found the seat belt doesn't always retract quick enough and can get in the way of the door closing. Now I always make sure the belt is laying on the seat before closing the door.
