I just got my pure a few days ago. The gass stations in my area carry 91 octane. BP carries 92 octane but it is not on the approved list. There is onee gas station near me that carries 100 octane.
I'm just searching out ways to get the best gas mileage I can. I also read some of the other threads about cruise control. Is it worth the money? I mean, aside from being able to take my foot off the gas on long trips, does it save enough gas to justify the cost ofaddiinng it?
I've used BP with no ill effects but I get better mileage from Shell.
I have the Area451 cruise which I love. But with that or with the MDC, you'd have to do one hell of a lot of cruise controlled driving to recapture the cost. Actually, I doubt it would pay for itself over the life of the car unless you have a real lead foot and it's the only way you could control yourself. That said, I still find that the cruise has already paid for itself in driving pleasure.

I've used BP Ultimate from 'day one'. I thought it was 93 Octane.
I appreciate all of your comments. Thank you. To answer the question of what list I'm referring to, toptiergas.com is where I got this. On this website, you will find a "list" of gasoline suppliers who are maintaining a crtain standard and have been "approved" by a number of automakers, like BMW, GM, Honda... Supposedly, some gasoline marketers have lowered their concentration of detergent additives in their gasoline. The detergents help keep the engine clean. Build-up of deposits in fuel injectors and other critical places can affect performance over time. I'm not a mechanic or anything. that's just what it says on this web-site.
Yeah, I'm probably gonna stick with Shell. I got 42 mpg on my last tank. Only have 800 miles on so far though.

Pete Misangyi, Fuels and Lubricants Engineering Supervisor for Ford Motor Company, also emphasizes the fuel factor when it comes to engine deposits. He says that "if customers need an additive due to engine deposits, or bring the vehicle in for service due to a performance deficiency, they should probably switch the brand of gasoline they’re using."
Left out of the Top Tier alliance, Ford has taken the unprecedented step of recommending a specific gasoline brand. Starting with 2006 models, Ford vehicles have "Ford Recommends BP" printed on its gas cap, which apparently includes BP's Amoco brand.
