To Cabriolet or not???

I have a lOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG time to think about this since we just put our reservation in last week. They told me a year to a year and a half wait at the dealership. However I also got on the orphan list and the woman who I took the test drive with said it still might be about 6 months before I hear anything. I would love to hear pros and cons to both the passion or passion cabriolet. I'm concerned that the passion with just the sun screen will get really hot when the sun screen is pushed back because the roof doesn't open. On the other hand is the cabriolet much nosier as in rattles and such. My husband says passion and I say passion cabriolet . Forgot to add, does anyone see any safety issues with the cabriolet since my 10 year old son will be riding with me often. Any opinions out there?

I've only had my cabrio for a week. But, even at highway speeds (70-80 MPH) I didn't find wind noise to be a distraction. Most of my driving is in town though. I can't wait for Fall, or some overcast conditions, so I can run with the top open and not have to simultaneously run the A/C. I'll let others address the safety concern. I gather there isn't much of one though.

Live in Maine, own 5 cars, 4 of which are convertibles... my motto... if the top doesn't go down it's NOT worth driving let alone making payments on it. Oh, ya the only hard top in the fleet is a 12 mpg Range Rover. Buy the cab and enjoy!

I say get the cab unless you plan on using the smart for long trips more often than not. The soft top only begins to bother me after about 4+ hours into a trip

Cabrio. Best of both worlds.

Can perfectly carry on a conversation at 90 mph with the top up, or the radio can be loud enough to enjoy a ride at 90 mph with the top down!

Love my Cabrio! I drive it at high speeds on the express lanes to and from DC everyday with the top down. (I have to say, though, I didn't consider a convertible until after my kids were grown. I have 25 yr. old twins, one in NYC and one in SF, CA. One of my friends commented that she thought that I was so safety-conscious that I was the last person she ever thought would buy a convertible, let alone a tiny vehicle. I replied that "life after kids" can encompass a few more risks. Of course, I don't have grandchildren yet.) I feel perfectly safe in my cabrio!

We have both - my wife has a white cabrio and I have a black passion coupe. I must confess some envy because with the top down and the rails in the tailgate the cabrio is a visually appealing car. Interesting to note is that my wife very seldom puts the top down and almost never takes off the side rails. If i had it to do over again, we would have two cabrios.

The passion roof is tinted-the AC works well
Many of us love the passions
If you have little experience in convertibles, rent a small one for a day or two
