One of the first times I came out of my driveway, a lady practically snapped her neck looking at the car as she drove by... It was funny to see and I would thought she would hurt herself doing it.

Just about 100% of the rubber-neckers have BIG smiles when they spot the little SMART :-)

I get a kick out of folks in parking lots pointing as I drive bye. I can read their lips, "Look at that little car!"

I've had a lot of positive reactions on the road from motorcycles - must be the fact that we all get about the same mileage! Plus, anyone who has been to Europe in the past ten years, comes up to my smart as they're seeing an old friend! I guess it's a nostalgia thing!

Funny crap happens all the time. Camera phones are a constant. People hanging out thier cars giving you the thumbs up are a little more rare. The only part that bothers me is the people who pass you and then slow down until you pass them so they can get a better look. When it happens in the right lane, they can actually force you to miss an exit by driving next to you. Got to admit that their nothing like the smile of a 20 year old girl looking your way if you can convince yourself its not about the car

On the way home from Louisiana I'm going down the highway doing about 85 in the middle lane. I slow down to about 72 mph. A couple of minutes later I see a LEO in my rear view mirror. I hold my breath a little bit. He inches closer. Then he pulls up beside me on the right. I try to keep calm and look straight ahead and glancing down more at the speedometer. He goes behind me then over to the left side of me. Then he's directly beside me and I hear a quick "WHEEOOO" of the siren. I looked over just knowing I'd be had. The local sheriff guy gives me a big grin and thumbs off before he speeds up and passes me.

Yep. This car is dangerous. Almost had me a heart attack. "Elizabeth, I'm coming to join ya!"

Our new game for the boring ride home is counting fingers pointing at the car in oncoming traffic. This is a two-lane road that has 20-24 miles of nothingness.

Of course there's the picture taking. I try not to look over when they are snapping pics. And of course the wife always says, "WoW, you better be glad you weren't picking your nose!"

I got pulled over less than a week after I had the car. First words out of the officer's mouth were, "I'm not going to cite you, but you did this ..." (failed to go from nearest lane to nearest lane when turning), and then he proceeded to ask me all about the car. I think he partially regretted it because I couldn't shut up and he was like..I gotta go...
Still gets the heart rate up regardless. Now I try to drive the straight and narrow...I love talking about the car, but I don't really want to give them an excuse to pull me over.

I had a guy shadowing me at 75mph two lanes over. When I looked over he had the camera phone out driving with one hand and snapping a photo with the other. I've actually noticed a lot of people doing this, just not at 75mph. One of my co-workers asked me if I could give her a ride home today and I said "sure, but I'm in my Smart." When she saw it her eyes got big and she said "OMG, you're taking me in that?" I explained to her how safe it was and since she had no other way to get home she reluctantly agreed to get in. After 45 miles on the freeway she called her husband so he would come out and look at the car. By the end of their conversation she still didn't have him convinced to buy her one.
