car not due in till May, but ordered license plate

What steps did you take to order the license plates. State DMV ? What was the turn-around time? Thanks!

Ordered on the CA DMV web site, they let you personalize so you can see what it will look like on the plate, then you submit and if it's not currently in use they let you order right then.

Wow I wish Maryland would catch up...
They still make you download a pdf, and fill it out on PAPER! and MAIL it in!
You have to list your choises in preference order.
It takes 4-6 weeks

ridiculous!! THIS IS 2008!!! I already have vanity plates, have had them for a LONG time... this is the first time i have considered changing them....

Can you do it in NY with just the VIN? I thought I needed to wait for my actual registration number... if not I'll be a happy camper!

So it turns out I didn't need to wait for the registration, but they did want the current plate on the car.

MY BMBLB is on it's way!

ordered my plates today (PUMPEN 3) for my 3 big cylinders!

we new yorkers gotta stay together! the new york sub-forum I tried to start kinda never went anywhere. hopefully we'll have some local folks soon that have their cars. are you city smart or country smart?

Suffolk county smart here, but I do a lot of driving to CT and NJ on weekends, so I do go through the city a lot!
