Caravan needs to hold on until I get my SMART

I knew when I first saw a SMART that I wanted one. When I sat in it, I felt good. I made my reservation as sort of a birthday present to myself. However I guess it will be another ten months or so before my number comes up.

I drove Rabbits and I am in hopes that the SMART car will make me as happy as the Rabbits did.

My Dodge Caravan runs great but the transmission sticks and/or I keep getting bad gas. So I often drive with my fingers crossed. I hope it holds out until next summer.

I have decided I want the cabrio because at my advancing age it might be my last chance to have a soft top.

Folks keep trying to tell me how dangerous the SMART is and how the gas milage isn't so great. I'm not too worried.

This car feels right to me. The price is right too.

I understand the situation with your Caravan. I was driving a 1995 Dodge Neon, which I purchased brand new, until January. I was hoping it would hang in there until my smart was delivered. Well, it didn't make it. Died of motor failure in mid January and I was forced to buy a stop gap car until my smart was available. I took delivery on July 12th and now I have two cars temporarily.

People who haven't studied the smart decide it is dangerous just by looking at it. It actually gets among the highest crash test results, has Electronic Stability Control, ABS, for air bags and a crash cage (Tridion Cell). It won't make you invulnerable. But, to classify it as 'dangerous' is just wrong. As far as mileage is concerned ... it is not astronomical. smart claims 33 City/41 highway. Those figures reflect my experience almost exactly, a lot of people claim they get better. But, even 33 in town isn't too shabby.

Here's hoping your Caravan makes it.
