Crazy Test Drive!

We've had a smart passion reserved since Aug 4, 2007. So last week my wife gets a call to come into Smart Bloomfield and look at accessories and then test drive a car. After sitting through the usual sell job on the various overpriced add-ons available from the dealer, my wife had to remind Tom the salesperson, she was supposed to get a test drive. Okay, so they went & got in red passion.....with Tom in the driver's seat: Down Telegraph they go, Tom asks "how fast do you think I'm going?" My wife responds "60 or so", (this in a 50mph limit zone)......"actually I'm doing 75" Tom replies. "Want to see how the brakes work?" he continues, "Sure" she said, then Tom proceeded to do a FULL ON PANIC stop 75-0. He then "demonstrated" the cars handling by doing 4 or 5 donuts in an empty parking lot. By this time my wife is so shook up she declined his offer to drive the car.

A Smart can do a donut? Was the parking lot wet?

Your pal,
Meat.

Was Tom blasting AC/DC 'Highway to Hell'?

This might be the new 'orphan increase' training

OMG! Tom was also my salesman and he did the exact same thing!! Even the wording was the same. Wow, I know I test drove in a silver passion and would hate to have received that car. I did get my Orphan that day and I couldn't be happier. That is really funny that you got the same treatment as I did. My husband told him, when he went for the ride, to not go over speedlimit and no funny braking. I wonder if he has a deal with the city or if he ever gets in trouble doing those maneuvers.

I know the smart centers read this forum so I wonder if this guy is gonna loose his job, get a hand slap, or a promotion. My test drive started the same way in that the sales rep drove first, to teach me how to use the unusual transmission but there were no NASCAR moves in my test drive.

My test drive with Tom was the same way too, I just figured that was because I was a mid-20's male.

Sounds like Tom needs to switch to decaf. Has anyone ever said anything to him? I know I would have called him a crack head, but that's how I am.

For those who happen to go for a test ride with Tom, remember that the key is BETWEEN the two seats in the car and you have equal access to that key. Turn the car off and tell Tom to quit driving like a heathen.

Tom and I would have been having a serious talk after the high speed run and the panic stop...we would have been fighting after the first donut (and not the Krispy Kreme kind either). IMHO.
