Took my car in today and had cruise installed. Wonderful aftermarket piece!!! I LOVE IT!!!! Garrett at orlando smart did a great job on install.. They are a great dealer to work with,And they have a large selection of orphans available. Wonderful personal service.

It came from the dealer at orlando smart any guestions contact Garrett at orlando smart.Im sure it is not area 451 cruise, also is not MSD cruise .

If it's not an Area541 and not an MDC cruise control, you certainly have left us with a quandry! There aren't any other cruise controls for the new Smarts (451) that I'm aware of.

For those that worried about it being too expensive before... me thinks the prices will be on the rise. Folks like Car Toys tend to set bars. They know what they're doing, and I think there's a good chance you'll see the prices gravitate toward what they're doing. I have to call Garrett tomorrow anyway... I'll get specifics.... I thought he memtioned that it would be the 451 cruise.

It is most likely the Area 451 cruise control. We have had numerous requests from dealers to wholesale the MDC unit now that we distribute it, but all units have sold out by the time they landed here and we have not begun to distribute any to US dealers (yet). We have started to send some out to Canada to folks that used to carry the MDC before. Worldwide (other than US and Canada) the dealers install the MDC unit and have since the beginning.

As far as installation goes $1000 installed sounds a bit high. We plan to charge a LOT less than $500 for an install (a LOT less), but then again the install of the MDC unit is a bit simpler.

Like we stated many times on this board. Both units are great units and you, the end user would be happy with either one.

I heard from a very reliable source this week that Dave Schembri has put out the word that he doesn't want any dealers installing cruise controls. Not sure what the rationale is. - sheureka

That's sincerely sad since there is SO much pleasure in the added feature.

I just think back to "A chrismas Carol" and try to avoid thinking that the man who is head of the group that helped bring Smart to the US is Ebinezer.

If there are business issues, make a case TO support cruise controls!!
