The date keeps moving back

Is anyone else finding that his/her ETA dates keep moving back? My initial date was August 22nd, but now it's Sept. 9th.

And for those of you who have received their cars: did you find that you received your cars earlier in the 90-day window, or later?

Thanks!
DH

Yes, join the club. Mine started out Dec then moved up to 8/6. Been moving steadily out now for last couple of weeks. now sits at 9/6 and moves out almost every day. VERY frustrating! Must be squeezing in some of those NY cars . We do not get that luxury in the southwest. I did manage to get a VIN from the dealer and will try and track my car.

One would think that it'd be more frustrating to have a company that wouldn't update their delivery dates religiously and leave you at the mercy of some salesman who doesn't know when the car is coming in either. Y'know, like Mercedes, Jeep and Land Rover have all done to me.

Interesting what people find frustrating. Competence and customer service on a $12K car that exceeds other manufacturers and dealers who sell far higher end cars is something I don't believe I find frustrating.

Your pal,
Meat.

meat I love you man. I do not have a problem with the customer service and I am glad they are keeping us in the loop with the DDE. I have waited over a year and a few days more will not kill me. I just stated it is frustrating to keep seeing the date move out. I did not order a base version so my car will come in a little over 14,000. I have contacted the dealer and they have been very good with me so far and have given me the VIN so that I know it is getting close now.

Have a great day, I am everyday that I am not being worm food

Please tell me how you get a specific date in the month. Mine has changed recently from Aug. '08 - Oct. '08 to Sept. '08 - Nov. '08. I configured an '08 yellow w/silver in Aug. and re-configured an '09 red w/red this week after the confusion this past 2 weeks. Also do the dealerships notify you of the vin #? We are so excited to get our car -- reserved last Aug.

Dont get me wrong smartcenterbloomfield has been wonderful with all emails I have sent them. I have no problems with custormer sevice. My point is that is it really that hard to figure out when I vehicle is going to be built? I mean my dates (when they got within 11 days) was 8/16/08 - 11/14/2008 now its at 9/7/2008 - 12/5/2008 and still moving daily. The DDE is great but also very annoying!

The DDE automatically changed over to days for me a few months back. I contacted the dealer to get VIN. they can access the info on the computer. There is a thread on here on what screens they need to go to for the info.

You don't have a specified date yet? Usually once you're getting close (about 3 months before the start of your DDE) the 90 day dde window will include specific dates. So thats odd with yours being next month you don't have it yet!

As far as the VIN goes, some dealers can find it, others cry ignorance - but its usually not obtainable until within 30 days of your build.

Hey, when your 16-year old kid nabs one of the two family cars, and the only thing left to drive is a soccer-mom van...
frustrated? No, not really, but I'm looking forward to driving the Smart.
