Excited new SMART owner!!

Picked up my new SMART on Friday.............It is sooooo cool. I LOVE it. I had myself convinced it would be like riding in a tin can but I was very mistaken. I have been having a blast crusing around in it but there are a few little things that I would like to change. Has anybody else installed any other gauges in their SMART? The rpm gauge would be nice but I really could care less about the clock so I don't want to buy the assesories they offer. What I would like to have is a temp guage and a rpm guage so I am looking to see if anybody has purchased and installed anything similar. Thanks to all and look forward to sharing with the other SMART owners out there.

Welcome new Cheese head

Lots of questions in one post
For a guage look into a scanGuage

Scanguage II
Scanguage installation
For me I havent needed the info but it would be good to have if a code comes up.

Look around, use the search function (advanced search workes best) Lean, and enjoy.

I opted for the pods when I bought mine - the tach is, in my opinion, necessary, and the analog clock, given that there weren't digital clocks when I grew up, is far easier to read, especially while driving, than a 1/4" high, stuck in a corner of the bottom of the dash digital clock.
Be that as it may, I did buy a scangauge and installed it, because now I have a gazillion other things to watch (4 at a time), with the most common being MPG, water temp, voltage, and gallons per hour. And, with it installed under my radio (you can find that post somewhere around this place), it is easy to see while driving...

Welcome to the club.
The car is a lot of fun.
It is the most fun in the world, and best of luck to you.

The pods are useless in such a low powered car, I would only recommend buying the H&R springs to smooth out the bumpy ride and lower your center of gravity for better handling. I have over $4000 in add-ons and I believe this was the best $250 I spent by far.

I came across a pod like Gage that was digital and plugged into the same port as the scan Gage. it was about $300.00 and had multiple configurations. I can't find it off hand. if interested I can search more. I was googling when I found it though.
