Get Smart

Got my Cabrio Smart in the beginning of Sept. Lovin it. The wife drives it most. Was really impressed how it handles on the Ca. freeways.
Curious, is there a 1000 miles service rquired on these.
Some one left a note on my Smart saying that I wasn't at the correct drop off location for the Toys For Tots and to make sure when I dropped it off at the proper location, to e sure to leave batteries in the box.
Huh?

Welcome to the club, g.terrell,
The issue of an early service at 1,000 miles is still and often discussed. The manufacturer suggests a first service at 10,000 miles. Unless driven in harsh conditions, such as seaside, dusty environment or high altitude, etc... of course.
Up to you, and your wallet. Or your mechanical skills. It has been posted by several, including someone who use to teach our Brand Specialists, that smart is one of the easiest car to service.
Enjoy!

g.terrell - Welcome to the forum!! JPaul is entirely right, there are several threads on changing oil early. I changed mine at 500 miles and am on a 3500 mile interval now. I change my own, it's the easiest oil change I've ever done and allowed me to go out and buy some new tools! Just me, I feel it is cheap insurance.

I did mine ant 1K, and am about to do my wife's at 1K. I'm going 10K on the oil changes after that and feel fairly safe since the AMSoil that I use is rated for 17K under my driving conditions in my car. (with the proper synthetic filter of course.) I've been keeping an eye on it, and even coming up on 10K on the car, it looks like I could go another 5K on this oil without any issues.
