We got our new 2006 Lithium battery powered Smart a couple of weeks ago and what a blast. It will go up to 150 miles on a charge and do freeway speeds up to 80 mph, plus it's quick, 0 - 60 in under 8 seconds. If anyone in the Seattle area is interested in seeing it up close, my wife and I will be driving it in the Greenwood District Parade the evening of 7/23/08. Forgot to mention that per my early calculations, the cost per mile is less than 2 cents. When I get our solar panels installed (on the house), we'll be even greener.

Congratulations! Sounds like an exciting car. Any chance you could show up at the Woodenville smart meetup! next Sat 11:30am Redhook Brewery? It'd be nice to look it over.

Is this the "hybrid technologies" one, that was limited? Or am I thinking of something else

It's possible. I'll check our schedule. How long do the meetups last? What goes on at the meetups?

Yes. It's from Hybrid Technologies.

Having said that, certainly it will fit a number of people's needs.

Doesn't that model cost about a dollar more than the standard gas model? I'm curious how well the A/C would work here in SoCal...

WOW! congrats on your recent purchase. of course we are all wanting to know more.

do you know what the differences are between YOUR "ev" and the one smart has in London testing currently and is planning on bringing to the US next year in CA only for testing here as well?

my question is that smart advertises only 68-72 miles on a full charge, while you're 'ev' is getting TWICE that. also, your top speed seems a bit higher. if "Hybrid Technologies" can get those kind of results, why can't smart?

Probably because of differing battery technology or less batteries as the Hybrid Technologies EV Smart is listed as starting at $43500. I doubt Smart is planning to charge as much so they are probably using older technology or less of the newer technology.
