Hey all.
I've lurked these forums for about a week or so now and finally decided to sign up.
I am not an owner (yet)... but I test drove one yesterday and it was fun. If we will buy it, it will replace a 2002 Daewoo Leganza and be the 2nd car for a family of 3 which already has a 2008 Nissan Rogue (read: we already have a big car to haul people and stuff in, now ned small car to go to work/school). My mom and I (i'm 19 btw...college student living @ home) both tested one yesterday and liked it, but we can't agree on a color combo if we will buy one. She wants silver tridion, metalic blue, leather, kenwood nav. I want silver/red/red cloth + aftermarket pioneer radio unit. My option of course being about $1500 cheaper.
Anyway... I guess driving impressions are in order. Overall it was fun. I liked people looking @ me as I was driving past (for you Chicago locals, this was @ Lincolnwood Smart Center.... corner of Lincoln/Touhy) a busy intersection. The tranny is what got me, in auto mode, especially going from 1st to 2nd the lag seems a bit too long, but once you're in higher gears or doing it yourself stuff seems more smooth. Panorama roof was awesome, combined with the large windows made the car feel huge. When we were leaving the dealer, sitting in the Rogue felt a little claustraphobic

.
Anyway... since there is about a year's wait and we want a car by end of next summer /early fall, putting down the $99 now should be a good idea, even if we change our mind.
Yes, we are looking @ other options. Speicifically the 2-door VW Rabbit and Nissan Versa SL Hatch (in the MAYBE). We are yet to test the VW but on paper it looks promising. Already tested the Versa (while buying the Rogue a few months ago) and it was decent, everything an econobox should be, yet boring and unmemorable enough to make you care. So I guess the Smart decision is pending the VW drive.
Anyway...just wanted to say Hi!
