My wife's car was up for replacement and I was intrigued with the smart so we went for a test drive. She has always dreamed of having a 2 seat convertible sports car. After waiting several days for delivery of just the right model for her from a dealer over 1200 miles away, we picked up her new car this past Friday. Passion Cabriolet - Rally Red on black with the Red design interior. We are both very happy. She's not that much of a car nut or internet geek so I'll be the one on here representing both of us.
While waiting for the car, I have spent way too much time reading everything I could find on the internet. I have a few mods planned including Area 451 cruise, Scanguage II, backup camera, trailer hitch and some chrome bling. I'm sure that over time, there will be much more. I have 2 Harleys and their customizing never ends so why should the smart's? The trailer hitch is to tow the trailer we bought for our Harley Road King. We put over 5,000 miles on that trailer last summer and since you can't really feel it behind the Harley, I suspect that it won't be noticed behind a smart. With the trailer, I should be able to leave the pickup home for all but the largest and heaviest of purchases.
I plan on tracking mileage on the fuelly site and posting pics of the mods that I do. Even though this is supposed to be "her" car, I'm sure I'll be looking for excuses to drive it since it's really a lot of fun.
I'm wondering if I should buy another smart for me and get rid of the pickup??? An 8 foot long light duty flatbed trailer should be able to haul anything I really need the pickup for. And if I keep the loaded weight down under 2,000 lbs, the smart should be able to tow it short distances without any problem. Either that or custom modify a smart into a pickup. Hmmmmm - I'll have to think about that one
I'm happy to be a part of your crazy world here at SCOA!
