Hello!

Hello! I live in Delaware and will be making a 180 round trip commute 3 days a week, so I've decided to buy a smart, probably in the next 2-3 months. Anyone on here have long commutes like mine? How are they?

Welcome to the site! I make about a 110-120 mile commute everyday, depending on if I take my wife to work as well. all but 10 miles on each end is on the interstate. I'm still very surprised at how well it get's up and goes on the interstate. I do have to watch the speedometer, it's very easy to be doing 80 when it feels like 70. I'm more comfortable in it then in my old Jeep Cherokee or in my Hyundai Accent. The seats are firm (leather for me) but very nice for the longer ride.

I will be adding an armrest that I think will help even more, as I normal prop my arm on my leg currently, and the angle that I keep it at causes the ball of my heel to become uncomfortable after 15-20 miles. The armrest coupled with cruise control will make it that much nicer.

The one downside to it for me is crosswinds. It's not bad behind a semi, or even passing, but if it's windy, when I get out from behind a stand of trees, I can feel it. I've read that a slightly wider tire is available that will help with this substantially.

Anyone get this? I can log into the forums page, but logging in via the Home page gives me this error...

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: juserhelper in /var/www/vhosts/smartcarofamerica.com/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_jvb_bridge/component.lib.php on line 0

For some odd reason I'm not logged in on the SCOA Home page but as soon as I direct myself to Forums it already has me logged in... *logs in SCOA Home page also* all better now..

Welcome to the forum and welcome to the anticipation group!

I've been here for a year and now (I hope) I would be going to get me a passion coupe in the next 4 days!

The only thing that used to concern me about the smart was overall performance. But the nice people on here and at YouTube showed me that it's not as slow as Christmas!

I haven't thought about it but the smart is only 4 seconds slower than my current vehicle that I share with my parents (2203 GMC Envoy XL).

NOT BAD AT ALL!

Neon...hopes to be youngest and happiest owner...

P.S. Beware of Jetfuel and Forestacademy, they might include you in a joke or two...

I am just the opposite. What you travel in 3 days takes me about 2 weeks going to and from work. I find that my little car is very comfortable and I would not mind traveling long distances in it. If I go to the national Smart event in KC next year, I will find out how well I do in it for long distances.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I also just click to get on the forum and I am logged in, so try that.
The smart should be fine for long journeys, the seats are really comfy so you get out feeling fine, and you also get out with a broad grin on your face, not many cars do that these days.

Long Distant Commuts, no problem but you may wish to invest in an after Maket Cruise control from one of the Vendors here.

And yesterday I was having all sorts of login problems, or it kept logging me out. But what do I know, im not a logger
