Hello from charleston sc

I was one of the first to get a smart car in charleston. March 2008. Ordered it back in 2006. Anyway i love it. It's a black/silver cabriolet. Mileage is about 36 with ac running/ and 40 without a/c running. We need a/c nearly year round because its so hot here.

Anyway, i was looking for a maintenance/ service recommendation list but haven't found it yet. Not on the smart web site, not in the owners manual. Any ideas???\

I've seen a few smarts around town but not yours. So far a silver/black, a blue/black cabrio, a yellow/black, and a white/black. When I took delivery they told me I was the 37th smart in South Carolina.

When you got your car there should have been a small booklet entitled "Scheduled Maintenance Guide 2008" that came with the package of owner's manual and misc. other booklets. That spells out everything that is done at the regular maintenance intervals. I am planning on doing an oil change after the break-in period (1,000 miles) based on the many people who have done that on this forum and found black, metallic-chipped oil. Nobody seems to think 10,000 miles is realistic and most likely a marketing ploy. Luckily, the smart is the easiest car in the history of cars for changing the oil.

I got mine 3/01/08 out of Jacksonville, Fl. I'll change the oil and filter at 5000. Currently at 4000. I pulled about 45 mpg coming up I-95 and, like luraw, I'm doing around 36 with ac.
