Firstly, I'm happy to be a part of this excellent forum! I love the smart inside and out, everything about it!

New to smart, I just laid down my $99 last month and reserved a red standard Passion Coupe with red interior! I was told then in the delivery estimator that it'd be October to December by the time it arrived! I check back on the estimator today and it said it was unable to estimate that delivery.

I was hoping someone could answer my question as to why it takes so long for our smarts to get here after we reserve them?

Congrats on your order! There is a limited production of smarts and lots of demand so the waiting list and time to make/deliver is pretty high. I'm sure it will decrease in time once there is enough supply to fill the demand.

Welcome, and if you get tired of waiting, pick up an orphan! (That's what we did)

The red interior is totally great. I love it, and we get lots of (positive) comments about it.

Waiting 18 months or more is not uncommon. The orphan idea is a good one, we also got an orphan after a year. Black/black/black Brabus. Great car to drive and the attention it draws is a lot of fun. Never been so popular.

I guess I really lucked out after reading so many of these reservation stories. I walked on to the lot at Laguna Niguel (just to have a look and maybe a test drive, you know) and drove off that afternoon with my new Smart.

They must be one of the few dealers with an actual inventory.
