Welcome to the waiting game, how long are they telling you it will take to get your car.

Hello Jesse,

I suggest that if you don't want to wait, contact Smart Center Bloomfield and let them know you are interested in an 'orphan'. That is a car that was ordered, delivered to the dealership, but the person who ordered didn't take delivery.

Depending on what you ordered, you may or may not be able to get what you want for the price you want, but you could get one sooner.

I reserved mine back in Oct-Nov. Didn't want to wait, so in mid April, I contacted SCB and asked to be on the orphan list. I told them I was flexible and within 2 weeks I had my car. I did pay more than what I was thinking, didn't order a convertible, leather or heated seats, but that's what I have and I love it.

Just a suggestion. Also we have a pretty good networking group, Smart Michigan Users Group - The Home Team, that gets together at least once a month. Just Saturday a group of us met at the Gilmour Car Museum out here on the west side of the State.

Welcome aboard.........patience is the order of day. We order 8/4/07 and are still waiting, though the DDE says we could have our smartie as soon as mid-July or as late as mid-october. Interested in what the DDE says for you, as we might order a second, but wouldn't want it before summer of "10.

jesse - Welcome to the forum!! The wait can be trying! I got on my dealers Orphan list and had my car within 18 days of making my reservation!!

While although I don't want to wait for the smart, it is the best decision for me right now. It will be done right around the same time that I will graduate, and I don't want to buy a new car before I can sell my house and move into a new one. I was told betwen 18-24 months by the dealer (Bloomfield Hills) from reservation to delivery. I plan on ordering a yellow Passion w/ black interior. I have been debating on leather, but haven't come to a conclusion yet I suppose I have a while to make up my mind!
