Hello. A Question from a Newb.

I've been lurking in your forum for some time now, just sort of soaking up your enthusiasm. I've always loved cars, big and small. The smallest I had was a Spyder 550 Replica, which was not much else than 4 wheels and an engine. It was so small and low to the ground that I found it much too intimidating to drive in traffic. The Miata I owned seemed a boulevard cruiser in comparison.

Question: How many of the new American variant Smarts have been built thus far? I tried search, but it is not working out for me. This question can be answered in any way you wish: How many are expected to be built in the first quarter, how many by looking at VINs delivered, the capacity of the French plant...

By the way, I'm also a Delorean owner, and JZD was able to build about 9-10K during the year or so he was actually in production. I was looking to compare how fast it will take the Smarts to overcome that number in comparison.

Well, sorry to go on, but it is nice that your community has sprung up along with the inception of your car.

I'm not sure how many this far, but they planned on producing 16,000 cars the first year, Rumor has it now they are producing aroung 20,000. How's that Delorean treating you? My husband wants a Delorean so bad.

Thanks for the prompt response. The Delorean should only be owned by someone that intends on becoming a Delorean Mechanic, if you know what I mean.
