Hi there. I don't own a Smart (yet). Too bad, I waited too long and waited the yellow paint option away.

Hi John,

No, not an owner yet. I made my reservation just a month ago, but was on the orphan list for about 2 months, also was offered orphan twice, but both had a lot of add-ons --> lojack, blue tooth, ... --> over $16,000.

I think I will likely configure mine UNLESS there is a yellow orphan.

I have seen a blue/blk, a yellow/silver, a black/black in Capitola and several others (probably one was yours) on Highway 1 near the fish hook. I will look out for you. BTW, I may go for the rally red/silver, but likely will go down to the dealer to actually see what the new red looks like before making up my mind.

I was just in Santa Cruz for the weekend. Of course it got cooler while I was there and now it's all sunny and nice again...

It is hard to make a fair comparison. I paid about 12,000 more for the Prius. It wins in most categories, milage (hi 40's vs hi 30's) and comfort. Besides price, the smart does win in parking, and "fun to drive".
My partner uses the Prius for her commute to work and I use the smart to go shopping, go to the beach, etc (I am retired so no need to commute). Together we use the Prius for vacations, and longer drives and we use the smart to go downtown for dinner and anytime we expect parking to be a problem.
It is a good combination, Prius as the main car, the smart as a 2nd "in town" car.
