Hello from sunny Florida

Hi - I am new to this forum having just joined. So...welcome me! I have been doing a lot of research on the Smart car since I first saw it in Europe. Feel in love with it there and quite excited to hear it was coming to the states. Anyway went to Sarasota yesterday to drive one. It was quite the experience. The way it shifted seemed odd and awkward to me but the sales person says I can get used to it. My husband had no trouble with the shifting and thought the car was great. Impressed with the roominess of it. Anyway we reserved a blue coupe. Will probably be months before we get it but OK as can save my pennies. I would love to see one on the road other than at or near the dealership. That will be so cool. Will keep reading the forums to hear eveyones impressions and thoughts. Thanks for the opportunity .

Welcome to the group Christara! Plenty of things to read and learn around here. You do get accustomed to the shifting pretty quickly once you drive for a hour or so. My wife and I are having great fun with ours.

I live in Venice and picked up my red passion coupe this past Thursday.
I travel Tamiami Trail 5 times a week to work. It shifts funky but who cares? It's a great ride!!!!!!

Hello cruiser - I love to go to Venice to the beach and shopping so will be on the lookout for a red Smart. If I see you at the beach or in town I will say hi. I will hopefully be in my little blue Smart. I can't wait to get it but will have to be patient as I expect it will be a few months. I know the shifting thing will just take some getting used to..afterall I only drove it for about 10 minutes. There again I am so not patient. Drives my husband nuts. Enjoy your Smart.
