hey guys, quick question

me and my dad reserved our smarts in feb. 08. ..ssooo 4mnths ago...we we told we were supposed to get a email to finalize the color and etc... 2months later...havent got it yet. is this normal.? how long did it take to get your email?. thanks.

I reserved my car November 5, 2007 and received my invitation to configure on April 21, 2008. You have some waiting still to come, especially since I'm sure orders are up considerably since the smart hit the market creating an awareness that didn't exist back when I first ordered.

Haven't received an email yet to finalize, ordered April 18, 08, but have been able to go to www.smartusa.com to the DDE and had a date of Oct-Dec 09. Then today I checked it again for the heck of it and got a new date of Sept-Nov 09. Also put myself on my local dealerships orphan list and my dealer thinks I should be able to get an orphan byt he end of the year. Keeping my fingers crossed.

dont forget to look at spam mail that where my email wentI made my resevation on 10/24/07 and confirmed on 2/01/08,I ended up buying an orphan

I reserved 7/31/07 #1306. C&C'd 4/21/08. DDE says 7/26 - 10/24/08.

Good luck with that orphan. Be prepared for the dealer to add on as much stuff as they feel they can to increase the sticker price. That seems to be the standard M.O. If you don't want it with all the extras they'll sell it to someone else.

I reserved jun 07 and am due to p/u this sunday, a bit of a delay on my end since I moved from Boston to Chicago and had to decide whether to drive it back or perhaps try for an orphan....opted to drive

I think you would be smart to wait, they have some problems to work out with the car.

I ordered mine in February 08 and have confirmed my order already. Estimator said delivery between Nov 08 and Fed 09. I have been contacted by dealer on 3 orphans already.

I wouldn't be in too big a hurry. I would bet you're looking at at least 18 months if not a little more. Waiting might be in your best interest though. I may get stuck with an 08 this December, instead of an 09, I would prefer the 09. Maybe by the the time you finalize your order with options and such, you'll have more things to choose from, and more problems may be ironed out.
If you just can't wait, and money is no object, and you're willing to sacrifice a few thousand dollars, you can pick up an orphan somewhere real quick.
