Hi, Another from Florida

Just bought a Cabrio last week and love it. Hoping the weather will change so the roof can go down.

Got the heated seats. I'm a snowbird from NJ and will be heading north in a few months, The cab will sit here and wait for me to come back.

~When you go north, be sure to put a Float Charger on the Battery... OR... It will be Flat (dead) when you get back...<:-((
~Info Note: Your Smart has a 2 1/2 Volt Micro drain on the Battery 24 hours a day, every day, because the auto locking system (alarm if you have one) is Hot all the time waiting to recieve that Lock Unlock message from your Key FOB...

Thanks for the info. My husband was going to disconnect the battery cables so when I come back to Fla, I just reconnect it and hopefully the battery will still have some life. What do you think???

I would float charge the battery with something like a BatteryMinder. Because of the battery location, permanently connecting a pig tail to the terminals and feeding them out into the passenger compartment save plenty of time and work.

Oh, me thinks disconnecting the battery for that period is probably a bad idea; lots of quirky things may occur.

Check with the dealer on this, but I would recommend a battery tender during the down time.

Welcome to the forum!

Del Tran make the "Battery Tender" Plus, Junior, Weatherproof for boats and etc. You can easily hard wire the leads to your battery and just plug in the unit. It will always keep it charged to the proper level than go to "float" mode. You can either hard wire or use aligator clips. I have three special interest cars all on Battery Tenders. You can just unplug the quick disconnect and you are ready to drive away. Don't skimp on a cheap unit. You get what you pay for. The Del Tran models cost about $35-$60 dollars depending on model and place of purchase.
