I see aftermarket exhaust systems for the Smart Car. Is the Brabus exhaust more aggressive an exhaust note compared to the standard ForTwo? Do you know of anyone who installed a more aggressive sounding exhaust on a Brabus model or is the Brabus exhaust aggressive sounding as is?

Thanks!

Before buying a new exhaust for hundreds get a cold air induction from smart Madness along with the silicone tube that connects with the outer air duct on the driver side. It will give your exhaust a wonderful sound without any drone that plagues some performance exhausts. It was just on sale a week ago.

Not sure how tall you are, but on coupe vs cabrio, I wanted a cabrio but my head would touch the roof. Sat in a coupe and I just fit better.

Originally I wanted a brabus as well but found my '13 passion so loaded it couldn't compare with the brabus I found.

I'm with DrKillerBee on that. Skip the exhaust and get a new intake for it. It doesn't really change the EXHAUST note... but you get a bit of a deep, throaty growl if you're just pulling out, or in low RPM's and step on it.

As for the Brabus exhaust vs. the standard.... as far as i'm aware the difference in sound is minimal. Think it's mostly the same exhaust, just that it has a center exit with a rear valance to match it.

In regards to potential problems, as with any car, it's hard to say. Some people have had several problems with theirs. When i had my 2009 Brabus Coupe, I didn't really have any issues at all with it. There was a minor water leak by the rear window that was fixed not long after i purchased the car.... and i think that's basically the only "major" issue that i had to take it to the dealership to fix. Other than that it was just regular maintenance as usual. And that was up til i STUPIDLY traded it in on a 2013 Dodge Dart when it had i believe somewhere around 70,000-80,000 miles on it.

I had a Chrysler convertible from 2002-2006. It was usually too hot or too cold. Maybe if I had flowing locks of golden hair, instead of the mess I have to deal with on a daily basis, the Cabriolet would be more of a consideration for me. Guess which player I am in the pic...#50. Lol

Sorry, but that is so funny! I just sold my 2013 Dodge Dart (Mopar '13 Edition #159/500) to buy a Brabus 451. (See the pic). Small world...

If maintained as recommended, does it make sense to keep a well maintained Smart Car beyond 100,000 miles? Knowing me, if a special edition comes out in the coming years that has a sportier engine and a pair of embroidered racing seats, I can see me trading up. It's a nasty habbit. My father was a race car driver (...like myself) and we had a new sports car in the driveway every six months. Living the American Dream (Stupidly). Can't take it with you and I don't have children. I hope I die before I run out of money. Lol

I know it should, but will the cold air intake boost my hp a little as well as improve the exhaust note?

One other question...I'm not sure what the difference is regarding the Brabus body vs. the standard fortwo.

I have had my '09 black Brabus coupe for almost eight years and am a real fanboy when it comes my little smart. I will try to answer some of your questions and concerns.

The black Brabus photo is a US spec car. The white Brabus photo is a EU spec car. Two easy give-a-ways. The white car has matte black headlight housings and 16" front wheels.

The body panel differences in a Passion/Pure and a Brabus are fairly easy to spot. The rear diffuser has outlets for the center exhaust and matte black plastic mesh inserts on either side. The lower valances have a slightly different shape in comparison to the standard ones. There are approx. 1 inch fender extensions over the rear wheel wells. The fuel filler door has a Brabus logo on it. The mirror triangles have a Brabus logo instead of Passion/Pure. The front valance is deeper than the standard one with black mesh inserts. The stock wheel and tire set up is 5.5x15 front Brabus Monoblok VII wheels with 175-55x15 Hankook tires. The stock rear wheel set up is 7.5x17 Brabus Monoblok VII wheels with 215-35x17 Hankook tires.

I have done many mods to my car over the years and am still changing things around. Since I live in Florida with fairly good roads, I have had no issues with the Brabus wheels. In fact, I run rear tires and wheels on all four corners. I really like the look of 17" wheels all around.

If I can be of any help. please free to ask. As to the sound of the stock Brabus exhaust, in my opinion, it is slighter deeper and more throaty than the stock exhaust. Whenever my exhaust needs replacing, I will use the Brabus exhaust again. I feel it is better made than some of the aftermarket ones with no rattles or drone.

Good luck with you Brabus purchase and we would love to see some pics of it.

Even though I don't have a brabus, I still love the handling of my '13 Passion with style package.

I came from a mopar as well (had a 2003 PT Cruiser GT with 227whp/281wtq) and I've got to say the smart covers the "fun factor" for me. I'd love to have more HP/TQ out of the smart but even stock it puts smiles on my face every time.
