Horn Problem

Hi.....I am very new to this site and hope you will forgive any mistakes.First Hello to all across the Pond and I wish you all well...I have a Smart Car in the UK which has a horn problem and have been told that the problem is with the steering wheel which requires replacement to cure the problem.....It seems there is no circuit between the SAM unit and the steering wheel and hence the horn relay is not clicking when you press the steering wheel....Has anyone ever heard of this.

450 or 451. As far as reported 451 horn problems here on this site, most have been just a blown fuse but I recall someone having a bad relay once too.

why would the relay be in the steering wheel? that sounds real bogus. check fuses, and WHERE the horn relay is located.. changing a relay is 3-4 dollars (2-3 pounds) changing the steering wheel PLUS labour.... OUCH!!

And don't forget the airbag is in the steering wheel - dangerous to mess with that without disconnecting the battery; just in case.
Find the relay on the panel - replace it. Might want to check the horn connections, too. May be a poor ground or other loose connection. Lots of things to check before diving into pulling the steering wheel.
