Thank you for advice!

Thank you to everyone for your feedback on my dilema of TWO orphans available at same time! Much great advice! Sorry I didn't make it clear - they are BOTH cabiolets but I am leaning toward getting white (also includes an alarm) and trying to get yellow panels....wondering how hard that might be, too. I didn't ask the dealership yet if they have them in stock in yellow. They told me color is discontinued as of 2009.

If they're both orphans you shouldn't have an issue with the panel swap... And the VIN issue doesn't apply because that's only for cars that have been sold... If they're both 08's the dealer probably won't charge you anything to change the panels.

Panel swap sounds great!

Thanks for your quick feedback~ Swapping the panels sounds brilliant. But the dealer told me the panels are "Vinned" to the car they come with originally... Wonder if that is exactly true or a gimmick to make me take one as is!

Could it be that if they exchange panels with another car, and obviously the VIN numbered labels, both vehicles would then have the other's numbers, therefor breaking a rule? But, once both cars are sold, if the other buyer also agrees about the swap, then all is fine?

Here I go...

I shall ask this evening when I go to the dealership to give my answer and let you know what they say -- here's hoping I will be driving a Bumble Bee Cabriolet very shortly!! I am so glad to find you all - such great support and information. I'm here to stay!

If you are purchasing the car at the Loeber, the once offered to sell me a red orphan and sell me a set of yellow panels. Fortunately a yellow car became available.

Get the comfort package. I been to Chill-cago. It's cold there. I wish I did now!!!! It take a while for the car to get warm and toasty. Sorry about the color. I miss the heated seat I had in my old car.

The VIN number stays with the car, not the panels. But if someone buys the car with the white VIN that now has yellow panels, confusion will result. Buy a set of yellow touch up panels for about $900 for the white car, and eBay the white panels. Cheaper and easier than trying to wire in new seats.

This makes panda SAD.... I'm still in the "reservation"
stage, but I want the car I want, so waiting's not a
problem with me. I'd go with the white one, myself, out
of those choices; BTW, why'd they discontinue yellow? That's an awesome "don't hit me" kinda' color! :lol
