Howdy Y'all!

Just joined today from the Dallas metro area.

Started to research Smart cars this morning; I am an avid motorcyclist and thinking the cabriolet could make a really good (safer) alternative to a motorcycle sidecar rig for some weekend “open-air” back road jaunts with my 4YO son. It really bugs me to leave my son at home to go ride on weekends; at this stage, dad is the world's greatest person... I know this may not last forever, so I want to make the most of it

I have my "dream bike" ('07 BMW R1200RT) listed for sale on Craigslist to fund the Smart car; let me know if you know someone who might be interested in a trade

Hi! I'm originally from Grapevine. I think you will find a lot of things to love about the car. And you have good intentions as well!

Test drove an '09 coupe w/panoramic roof today during my lunch break at the Dallas Smart Center and can't stop grinning

I liked the car a lot; the only thing that would take some getting used to is the 1st to 2nd gear transition; tried both manual (paddle) and automated modes.

The seemingly-long transition time just feels strange, it's probably not any longer than the average person's manual shift, but I guess it registers in one's head at first as an automatic transmission having trouble getting into second gear as if it was about to fail. Simple matter of reprogramming one's noodle IMHO.

I may go back with my son tomorrow; they are having their 1st. anniversary celebration.

Hope you made it to the 1st anniv party in Dallas. I was there with my Brabus cabrio. There is not enough good to say about this car. If you are just now looking, ask about the orphans. The wait is well over 18 months for a new one. These cars are more fun than you can imagine. Let the fun begin
