I love it!!!

Greetings from No. Virginia. I just picked up my adorable Red Passion Cabrio on Tuesday evening. I am absolutely thrilled with it. I was concerned that it wouldn't have sufficient pick-up to merge onto the Beltway and 395 into DC to work during rush hour traffic, but much to my pleasant surprise, it's just fine! I've even driven it with the top down all the way into the city!

Question: Has anyone put glow-in-the-dark stripes or other reflective accoutrements on the body's outside to increase the car's visibility at night? If so, I'd be interested in knowing what you used and where you bought it, or where you had it done.

Also, I am interested in knowing what kinds of accessories anyone has added that you have found useful. I am particularly interested in trash containers, "stuff" holders for the trunk area to keep things from sliding around, tissue box attachments. I think velcro may be the solution to much of my needs, but I welcome any suggestions.

I think a smart is plenty visible, it's short but actually a very tall compact car.

Welcome SmartMama,
The Beltway is not the issue, (some of) the drivers on it are...
Did you get the cargo cover?
Check the NoVa threads in http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/forums/f73/ , and more...

First, Welcome to smart ownership!! Red and Black is a great look!!

Second - to put reflective stripes on your smart would be OK if that is what you want to do. Be careful around DC they don't think it's a UFO!!

You could put neon lights under the car, as was pointed out in another thread, if you were so inclined...personally not my cup of tea, but to each his/her own!

Welcome! I have not thought of adding reflective tape to the car but it is a good idea for night time freeway driving.
I am very happy with the boot divider I purchased through the dealer. It keeps the things in your trunk space from falling in behind the seats - an occurance I found to be quite irritating before I installed the divider. You can find additional boot dividing accessories on a few different forums here. I would search under boot/trunk/divider/organization as keyowrds, and you should find them. Good luck and happy driving!

Hi SmartMama,

Glad you love it...me too. I bought my cargo (or luggage) cover from Smart dealership. It was out of stock and they shipped it to me after I had had the car for a couple of weeks. Gave me a chance to realize what a convenience it is now that it is installed. It keeps things from rolling behind the seats. It's kind of like a window shade installed sideways and when pulled out it hides thing you don't want the general public to see. The price was a bit high but worth it to me. Good luck with your smart.

Another advantage of the cargo divider/cover is that, if you need room to carry large items, it can be unclipped from its upper position into a lower position that is just a couple of inches from the edge of the engine cover, just to retain tiny items from rolling forward.
Furthermore, the cargo divider/cover has two kangaroo pockets facing forward, just behind the seats. Very handy for maps, umbrella, etc...

OK since no one mentioned it, a reputable sign shop can do you up some nice reflective graphics for the side. The same reflective vinyl they use on emergency vehicles but it comes in an assortment of colors so you aren't stuck with gold, blue, red, and orange.

Remember, they can cut any cool design you desire as well. Your Smart is an empty canvas.

Oh oh...do you mean that those pockets are facing the driver's side (front)? Mine are in the back of the trunk facing rear window. Do I have it in there backwards? It seem to work just fine this way.
