I want your ideas...how do you want to pimp your ride?
Hi everyone...I'm a new smart car enthusiast and am very excited about becoming a part of this community. As a new sales representative for smartcenter Orlando I am going to dedicate myself to learning as much as I possibly can about these cars. My goal is to be able to provide our customers with the latest news, newest technology, and finest accessories and products in the nation.
Currently I'm working on a "Look Book"; it is going to be a compilation of style, flair, flash, and attitude. What I would really appreciate from all of you is simply your opinion. What would you like to do to your car to personalize it and make it even more unique? I want to be able to establish relations with different companies in order to make the process quick, easy, and as cost-effective as possible so that "making-over" your car is fun and hastle-free. Perhaps you would like your car wrapped to advertise for a company you may own, a custom paint job, or maybe you want a navigation system or a "youconnect" hands free phone system, sirius radio, cruise control, leather interior with custom stitching, a chrome exhaust pipe, racing style tow hooks...the list goes on and on. Your input really means a lot to me and will deeply impact our decisions in the near future about expanding SMART.
Amber - Welcome!! I will probably add Nav, Exhaust and some kind of intake mod when a viable alternative is finally developed. Tires and wheels would be a must, then Cruise Control and a functional sun roof. A button that would collapse the smart into a briefcase for easy transport would be nice.

Reason: Had to add some stuff
I think that the specialty paint job done by Round Rock smart Center on my smart was the first step in pimping my ride. I love the stuff offered by smartbillet (Billet and Acrylic Fantasies) they really look great on a smart. I prefer some of the small touches, maybe that's my wallet talking, over the s-mann kit and some other hefty priced BUT very cool items. I like the smoked (hefty priced) or otherwise tricked out tail lights and the racing stripes too. Horn replacement with BIG horns seem to be popular. Specialty plates are cool. Offering information on these things and specialty car cleaning products (the stuff not found at autozone) would be a big help to people. I love spinners and would add them to my smart in a flash if I could find them and knew they would fit but DON'T mention spinners on here or you will be FLAMED by people who are better than you, know more about style and cars, know what would be right for your car, and will not hesitate to tell you all the negativity they are thinking.
Amber,
Try to ignore the smart a** answers. I for one appreciate a dealer trying to have after market options available to smart owners. Some suggestions of things that would be nice for the Dealer to offer or arrange:
Custom Paint availablility.
A source for Powder coating wheels and visable brake parts
Exhausts such as Breathless Performance and Doug Thorly
All of Smart Billets stuff
Optional Radio's and Speaker Upgrades
Cocomats
Bolt on Custom Wheels in standard smart car sizes
Reccomended sources for Pin-stiping, Racing Stripes and Wraps
Tow Hooks
Shoulder Belt Pads
A source for custom seat upholstery
Led Light Kits and Installation
GPS and Scangauges and installation of same
Custom Tack, Clock and Dash trim
There is a start for you. More later and thanks for your interest and efforts.
Amber; I've done the airhorn, the armrest (that could be a better product), rubber mats, rear shelf tray, AirTabs, ScanGauge II, painted side skirts (rockers), painted grille surround, powder painted rims, four equal sized rims, four Michelin equal sized tires (that really made it a better riding, handling and quieter car) and I had a trick exhaust on - but took it off because it was noisy.
So I guess you might say I've started pimping. What else would I like to do: if I could find both front and rear lower panels that had some styling I'd do those, but so far the ones out there are too custom (bling-bling) looking and not really race car images that say - "I'm here to make this cut the air more efficiently to help mpg or speed." And if I could find some more comfortable seats - that would interest me.
I love spinners and would add them to my smart in a flash if I could find them and knew they would fit but DON'T mention spinners on here or you will be FLAMED by people who are . . .
Instead of spinners you might want to take a look at the valve stem covers that sparkle (light up) in different colors. I've seen them in red/white/blue and just blue, so far. Maybe you could find some green ones. They'd look pretty cool at night~! Or, hey - add them TO the spinners - double the fun! Not expensive either.
Come to the meet & greet that starts w/breakfast @ Le Peep's (4266 S Kirkman Rd) @ 8:30am this Saturday. After B-fast we will go and tour the new dealership @ 4225 Millenia Blvd. You could actually see some of the mods and talk to other Smart Car Owners and pick their brains. Hope to see you there.
