Check out page 192. Basically, from what I've read here on the forum, each wheel has a transmitter and the car reads it. If it varies more than a few pounds, your warning light goes off. (Apparently other cars have monitors that essentially monitor the size/diameter of the tire and set off the alarm when it gets smaller in diameter i.e. looses pressure.) Some seem to be pretty sensitive and, particularly at this time of year can set off the alarm due to the changes in the tire pressure that come with changes in the ambient pressure. Many of those who have had consistent problems with alarms have found their old pressure gauges were off by 5 lbs or more and, when they switched to a decent digital gauge to set their pressures, all was well. Hope that helps some. (I also hope it's fairly accurate!) And congrats on your new Smart. I have 7500 fun miles on mine and some on this forum are in the 20k range.
