Most of my driving would be in and around a small hilly town in WV. But on a rare occasion I need to travel on the Interstate to a large city - Pittsburgh, PA; Steeler Country to be exact. GO STEELERS! Total miles round trip would be less than 70 miles.
Any of them. Same engine, same transmission. Differences are in comfort and appearance features. Passion is well equipped, can have heated leather seats which are great in the winter. The Cabrio (convertible) is great in the summer. The Pure is a budget model without power windows, etc. But all have the same safety systems and speed/economy performance expectations. Any effect from weight difference is too small to measure.
Paddle shifters on the Passion and Cabrio come in handy on hilly areas. The console shifter works just fine, but the wheel mounted paddle shifters offer a better sense of control.
Then Passion it is. Now to get the courage and "Passionate Patience" to place an order. But first visit the local dealer for a test drive. Thanks! Will be reading the forums for much advice.
...if I have to do it all over again I'll go Cabrio..(I wrote topless, but I know I opened the door to all the jokers in here,so I changed to Cabrio)...The WV scenery will more than warrant a convertible...it's almost God's country...IMHO
I highly recommend a visit to the dealer, take a nice long test drive and learn the car's quirks. Those of us that love our cars understand them, but you need to be willing to live with them as well. With the economy in the dumps, you may just be able to go into the dealer and drive off with an orphan of your liking.
I'd sure look for a 2009 model. We had a 2008 Passion and it was a lot of fun and great maneuverability, etc. However, the 2009 really does have a better setup for smoother shifting. Any orphan you might get could still have the automatic wipers (hockey puck on windshield) which I heard is going to be discontinued. I love the new real red, but my wife likes the blue (so she won).
Great suggestions from all! As a 60+ year old female who drove a Bug in the late 1960s, I'd love returning to the feel of the road. I'm currently driving a loaded '97 Linc. Cont. that gets decent mileage which surprises me compared to the recent produced American cars. But I want to turn green with my next car. The idea of a Cabrio (by Jetfuel) gave me a giggle as I always laugh at grey haired men in those sport convertibles. That would be me in a Cabrio as I'm letting my gray grow out! LOL But I'm sold on the 2009 blue metallic fortwo coupe if I order. That would be a dream come true. Hubby says, there are local dealers - might just need to take a test drive and decide soon. A year is a long time to wait.

The cab has pros and cons, but I think I agree with you on that one. Would miss teh rear wiper, but next one probably be a cabrio. Not that I am disappointed or anything....
