Warranties, etc

Doogster,
The 24 month warranty includes roadside assistance.
Good option: smart offers a five year tire and rim replacement (includes roadside assistance). I paid $395. But, I think each dealership can set its own price. NB: OEM wheels are verrry expensive.
Also, you can add "Towing" to your auto insurance policy for a reasonable price. That will cover you for breakdowns.
My opinion: the smart extended warranty is overpriced. And, you must buy it at time of delivery of car. Tom

Hi SmartBob... I called Tad at Cherry Hill like you suggested and we spoke for awhile... he said he got 3 Cabriolets in just last week and his dealership has been getting about 5 per week (all models) overall... so, he said there is a decent chance I could get into one in the foreseeable future. He did say when they are calling people on the orphan list that if you line is busy or you don't answer they move right on to the next person! So I guess my cell will be on 24-7 now.

I'm going there Monday morning for my test drive and to have them put a price on my 2007 Santa Fe trade in... I hope they don't low ball me on the trade in because the Smart is a low cost car....

A dealer in florida told my friend who picked hers up yesterday ,she could sign up for the extended warranty within the first year or 5000 miles whichever came first

Doogster,
I reserved on 4/7/08 number 1558. haven't configured yet, but I got put on 3 orphan lists with dealers around me (5 hours) the same day that I reserved. I have been contacted by 1 of the dealers already. It was for a passion, but like you, I have my heart set on a cab, so i passed. The dealer said I would be on the list for the next cab that they have come open....so, it may not be as far as you may think. Keep your spirits up!!!

Early Arrival!!!

Hi

I ordered mine April 2007 - took delivery in NJ April 18th 2008

Truly worth the wait; I love the little guy.... we've 'ad 'em in the UK for a long while; so I was chuffed to hear they were coming here; ordered one as soon as I knew :-)

Cheers

Ian

Well, I just returned from the Cherry Hill Smart Car center... very upsetting trip! They had 15 SMART cars on the lot... including 2 Cabrio's - but as you might imagine - these were all ordered and had owners. They were in the process of calling people on the list and told me at some point they would get down to my name... that is not the upsetting part... that part came when they valued my trade. I have a 2007 Santa Fe with plenty of options - it books in KBB for trade in value at $16,500... that amount is bad enough considering I paid $24,950 for this only 14 months ago... but they put a price on it of $14,000!!!!!!! That is just unacceptable and now I don't know what to do... guess I'll have to list it on Ebay.
