You pay about $750 for LoJack and the installation process. Along with that initial investment comes a 2 year "warranty" of sorts. Basically, if your car is stolen, and not returned in a pre-determined window (I forget what it is offhand) they reimburse you the $750 for the LoJack. Woo hoo! You have no car... but you have the $750 you spent on lojack.
Then you have the option of paying an additional $99 within the first month to extend the warrenty for the life of the car. So now you've paid roughly $850... and if your car disappears and LoJack can't return it in a given amount of time 4 years down the line, they'll give you your $750 back. It also covers any repairs they'd made to LoJack within the life of the car.
I don't know about you... but I sure can't drive a LoJack around. I hear it's about the size of a deck of cards. If my car is stolen... I want it back. If it doesn't come back... $750 isn't going to make me feel much better. And if LoJack can't return my car... they better not think that the $750 is going towards a LoJack in my new car. Personally... this is what I have car insurence for.
