Looking for a smart car

They have a list of zip codes - and some of them overlap. When I was looking I could have bought a car from Chandler (200 miles), San Diego (500 miles), or Albuquerque (500 miles). They all covered my zip code.

Maybe not- but I'd rather fork over $500 to get my smart NOW rather than paying a few GRAND more for one off ebay or craigslist OR waiting forever. Personal choice.

I've been looking as well for several months now and, believe me, if you aren't willing to pay a bunch extra you're gonna have to wait. I had one dealer offer me an 'orphan' two hours after putting my name on his list. Only problem - it had $5K of 'dealer options' that were nothing but junk, IMHO. I've called every dealer within the state and placed my name on their 'orphan list' but I don't hold out much hope.
There was one guy with a new Passion coupe who only wanted $3500 over his price. I decided at nearly $300 a month that I could wait a year or so.
