Looking for stock Smart

I spent today looking for a car on a dealers lot rather than waiting for my 3 Smart Cars to be built. We are not happy with the substitution of the rain sensor and auto lights for free fog lamps and on the top of the dash tach and clock..
Some dealers post their inventory while other don't.
I visited my dealer only to find the car i wanted didn't have the comfort package on it.

I think they're finding that the fog lamps and instrument cluster are more desired than the problematic rain sensor wipers and auto lights feature. It's been reported that many with those have experienced dead batteries; and some feel those are the reason.
And the fog lamps and added instruments would be my choice; I've ordered them but not the comfort package due to the BLACK leather seats. Were the leather available in any other color, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. . . black leather in FL is a drawback in the summer; i.e. April - October. Just my two cents . . .

Did you ask your local dealer to call other dealers for you? They may be able to swap one of their orphans for the one you want and then you won't have to buy from a distant dealer. This is common among other brands of cars.

If it were me I'd insist on an '09 and not settle for an '08. The shifting is much improved and I wouldn't count on being able to upgrade the '08.
