I guess this is a question for the chief moderator or forum moderator. As we all get more sophisticated and educated at Smart Ownership, we may begin to want to 'weed out' some of the postings rather than have them continue to pop up on the screen requiring us to do more scrolling down to the postings we really desire to follow.
I know we can click on the "Mark Forums Read" button down toward the bottom of the main Forums Menu page. I guess I'm wondering whether this selection button can also be added to the "View New Posts" menu or at the top of the Forums Menu so one doesn't have to go to additional screens or do so much scrolling to get to the place to choose that option?
One of the nice thing on the Club Smart Car site is that you can choose this option right at the top of the "View New Posts" screen. That makes it so much 'cleaner' when you open the screen again.
It would also help if people did not start dozens of threads on subjects already open or post the same comments in multiple threads. This is the only fourm I have been in where there is absolutley no control or self-control on opening new threads.
A few people in this forum start dozens of new threads each week (2 almost daily) about the same old stuff. More threads mean more junk to read.

Just to the right of the "New Posts" thread is "Quick Links." Select that, and "Mark Forums Read" is the second choice down.
CruisinAZ, I hear what you're saying and I whole heartedly agree. I'm starting to enjoy this site but there seems to be no control over the number of duplicate threads (which seems endless on some days) that pop up on the site. Maybe it's time for the club to begin the process of establishing moderators for each forum like is the case on so many other sites. These individuals can monitor their perspective forums to weed out the excess and keep the threads moving forward with the relative content. Of course, since this is a public forum, the club could ask for 2-3 volunteers per forum for an annual commitment? Just my two cents, Regina
I just don't read or post as much. I don't care about VIN #s, mileage, power steering, flipping over, wheels, what color someone is getting or who's first or next. Now it's real time. Who has their car and how is it. What is the REAL mileage. How is the tranny, really? No more speculating and arguing about Mickey Mouse details. We'll have real stuff to talk about, eh? ;)
Today when I started reading the New Posts section, I realized that when I selected the particular forum all the posts appeared to have been read already. None of the new threads were bolded to indicate it was an unread post. Did something change on the website last night? I tried reading at least 7 different forums and they all appeared to have been read but I see there were new posts. Can someone please explain? BTW, I did not change any of my settings. Thanks, Regina

Regina, I'll see your two cents and raise you two!
I agree with you (...and have volunteered.) I brought this topic up among the SCOA members last month, but most seemed to poo-poo the idea. Perhaps its time to discuss this openly amongst all users?

I too will volunteer to help combine threads or what ever it takes to get control of this mess. I cannot believe that almost 50% of the treads I read everyday are new threads.
I too, have had, on a couple of occasions, all of the new posts just suddenly become read. I had to go back through them and read the ones that I know I haven't read yet. Some glitch in the board I guess.
