Hi, Iv'e put the wrong grade of fuel in my smart. Tryed to get a hose down the tank filler neck but I could only get 2.5 feet in not far enough to siphon. any hints on how to get the fuel out?
If you're talking 87 or 89 octane versus 91, don't worry about it - it's no big deal. Just run out the tank and refill with the right stuff. No harm, no foul for one tank. If it was diesel, then that's a different story...
I put in a full tank of 87 when I had the nozzle in the car and realized all the buttons were (re)labeled 87. I discovered only after pumping that it was just the one pump and not the whole station. Dang. I didn't sweat it.

The OpMan sez:
"! To maintain the engine’s durability and performance, premium unleaded gasoline must be used. If premium unleaded gasoline is not available and low octane fuel is used, follow these precautions:
Have the fuel tank only partially filled with unleaded regular gasoline and fill up with premium unleaded gasoline as soon as possible.
Avoid full throttle driving and abrupt acceleration.
Do not exceed an engine speed of 3000 rpm if the vehicle is loaded with a light load such as two persons and no cargo.
Do not exceed 2/3 of maximum accelerator pedal position if the vehicle is fully loaded or operating in mountainous terrain."
Basically, they are saying to not force the car into a detonation situation. Maybe do the high octane fill up at the half-tank level.
