My Intro

Hello Smart community,

I currently own a 2007 Honda Fit Sport AT which im in the beginning stages of light modding. I absolutly LOVE my car, Fits are awesome cars. Im a moderator over at FitFreak.net, and am a big part of the community over there.

Well on my drive home today a black smart flew past me in the fast lane, and boy was i shocked at how awesome it looked! I really liked the design. So i came home and did some research, and was suprised to see the starting price! I literally did this I was very suprised at how low it was, when i saw the car i was thinking 30K staring price.

Well im 16 and am paying a rather large payment for my age and would MAYBE be looking at one of these down the road. I do not know much about the car, but i want to learn more! From the few interior pics ive seen i like the inside aswell I like the safety too, and i like that it has ties with Mercedes. From my understanding it will be sold at most Mercedes dealerships, and wont be there till early 08? Am i right? I cant wait to sit in one, and to check it out further.

A lot of Mercedes dealerships will be selling smarts, but not all. There are 72 or 73 dealerships in the US in total right now (out of about 1500 applied), some will be stand-alone.

ToolGD3. Wecome to the site.

The Smarts are now just being seen in the US. A lot of folks here first saw them in Europe where they have been driving around for about 7 years.

Many Us have driven the 2007 Euro model on the tours, but few of us have driven the new 2008 North American version due to be out Jan 2nd O8... We are all holding our breaths.

Join us and watch this thing unfold. BTW, lots of Fit fans and Microcar car people here as well.

Best Regards.
A2Jack,

Welcome to our space on the Whilred Wide Web.

Some of the dealers are prety close to being finished up, but not all of the dealers are Mercedes dealers. Penske Auto Group is the distributor in the U.S. and not Mercedes Benz. Almost all of us are waiting for the initial launch to happen. If you are close to Venice California, you owe it to yourself to check out the smart house before they shut it down at the end of January.

Garage
I would think that there would be some finance options offered to you at the dealership, or even the bank that you and/or your parents bank with. Once the dealers are announced I would just go have a chat with them.

Be aware that you most likely won't be able to walk into a dealer and plop down a bunch of cash, and drive home with a Smart - you need to get in line like the rest of us by giving them a $99 refundable deposit (the sooner the better) over at the official smart USA web site. Then you can come back here and spend too much time reading what everybody has said here!

Boy you got that one!! Yesterday I took off from work to take care of some things around the house. I spent nearly the whole day just reading the posts and replies to the posts as they circled around... I now am addicted to this site as much as I am the car!!!!!!!!! It feels good, though.....the anticipation to finally get my car is almost overwhelming.
My time is almost here I feel. I have an early number (1174) and am expecting delivery in mid January. I am also an eternal optimist.
Very appropriate last sentence in the post, though, Allan!
Be well.

John
