Never thought I'd be here

A few months back my wife was chatting with me about how she loved the Smart car. I'm a diehard car guy I said how could I ever own a Smart car? Then came the Philly Auto show and I have to say every preconceived notion was wiped away. I think I was more excited about the car after the auto show then she was. I placed the order today as a V-day present to my wife. Shes super excited and honestly so am I. Nice forum look forward to being here.

I guess I'm going to have to drive the car again, since mine is still a few months away. All the talk uses words like quick, zippy, etc. Coming from a JCW MINI and now a turbo TT, I look at the acceleration times as positively glacial, and wonder how these adjectives are constantly being used. The SLK is no slouch, but you say the Smart is as much fun?

Oh, and welcome to the fun Joey.

I hope there was sarcasm there. I love my smart, but power is one thing it doesn't have in abundance. While that is the case, I find being able to drive quickly just as much, if not more fun, in a lower powered car than an overpowered car. It takes much more skill to keep the speed and revs up.

I don't think the power MarkB is referring to is horsepower;). Power, more in terms of mezmerizing, hynotic, mindcontrolling, seductive.

Oh, Joey, welcome abroad. It's a blast. Helps pass the time waiting for your smartie.

It's more about the "feel" of the thing. It's like a go-cart with airbags. Don't know really how to communicate the concept, but it is way different from any other car you can drive.

Welcome Joey. Hope to see you driving around here in South Jersey sooner rather than later.

Power, as in horsepower, it's not. Power, as in getting noticed, for sure.
