new guy #1,204,573,.....

hey i just found this website yesterday. i reserved my Passion Coupe on 3/308 and configured on 4/4/08. i am supposedly gettin mine in Sept-Nov. '09 but the email that asked me to configure said maybe late '08. we'll see.

as much as i want my new Smart now, i am tied up financially building a house. so the Smart will help with my 45 mile (one-way) commute. so whenever it gets here, that'll be fine.

i ordered black on black on black. i have an '01 bug done the same way that my wife has been trying to get me out of for awhile. but something tells me she will want the smart instead when that arrives. LOL.
anyway, great forum. cant wait to research more...

Congrats for configuring just one month after reserving!

I suspect you will be re-configuring a later model year.

Hi, I'm new too........just reserved on 4/4/08. Haven't configured yet. I ordered White w/red interior cabriolet. Excited as I can be about getting it. I have 2 BIG diesel trucks. F250 and Dodge Ram. Diesel costs me >$150.00/week to and from work even at about 20 - 23 MPG. 64 miles round trip. Gonna be a TINY change compared to what I'm used too. I love diesel MPG and wish we could get the diesel version of this car. A woman in the town that I live just got one about 3 months ago. I called her before I reserved and she said she's crazy about hers. Keeps it in the garage and keeps her expensive car outside. Funny! She said I could come test drive it and I expect I will soon!

Hi, I was just wondering how you get 20-23 mpg on your diesel truck. Is that on the F250? I have one of those, and it only gets like 13mpg at best even though every one says they get like 18 and up.

Ya, I'm pretty excited. I don't know how I get that good of diesel mileage. I just always have. My F250 is a 6 speed manual transmission 7.3 1999 model. It actually gets better MPG than the Dodge. It gets 22 -23. I haul a 32 foot fifth wheel camper with it and the mileage goes down about 18 when hauling. My Dodge gets about 20.3 automatic 2007 model. I haul 26 foot pontoon with it. I'm getting the Smart simply for a work car, but I'm really excited to go from GIGANTIC to teeny tiny. Guess I'm the extreme sort!

.....BTW....I don't know if this has anything to do with the MPG but both (diesel trucks) have K&N air filters in them.

From what I have learned, making any engine breath better increases economy and performance!
