new member, from Long Island NY!

Heya everyone! This looks like the place to be for some info & comraderie for the world of the Smart Car. I feel quite fortunate to be driving one right now!

On Friday, I went to my dealership expecting to order one, and also get on the "orphan" list (where previous orders are not picked up by their original owners for whatever reason). However, I was told that there was a cancellation, and "here it is take a look..."

So, I drove away with it that night! I ain't stupid! got a great financing rate, and it even has LoJack. Been driving around all weekend, with my oldest daughter in the car as the "official waver". as most of you must know, driving this thing, you get "mad props" from all around you! complete strangers stop and ask questions. Can't count the number of thumbs up i've had in 72 hours, as well as the "great car!" comments.

It's all good. ;) thanks for letting me hang my hat here, and I look forward to chatting with everyone and maybe getting in on some regional drives and stuff (did alot of that with my VW GTI VR6 way back in the late 90s.).

woo-hoo!!

You dork.... I'll wave at you with my middle finger. 8)

Just kidding folks, NY Smartie and I are great friends and once again, have basically identical cars, making this the 2nd time in 12 years that we've had very similar cars without any planning beforehand. Great minds.... I guess. 8)

totally loving it. Smithtown Smart Center. Got a Silver/black/black (you saw me yesterday on the road, and yes, we do need a nickname for that color combination!! ;) ). got all the options except the dash gauges and the fog lights. also, it has LoJack, which is good for some cash off the insurance policy and some extra peace of mind!

We gotta organize some Suffolk stuff for this Summer for sure.

thanks fellas, yeah, I feel lucky! It's a Passion Coupe, Silver/Black/Black. all the goodies (plus LoJack), except no dash gauges or fogs lights. I can live without that stuff. maybe add it later as a fun mod, if it's not too hard.

reading the boards here, I realize how lucky I was to get one so fast!
