New Member and Owner since Feb 08

I'm one of the lucky few who ordered my Smart back when online orders started early last year. I picked up my yellow Smart in February this year and love it. Who would have thought that a small yellow car could make you smile every time you see it???
I've been a member of the Smart Insider for some time. I've been reading with interest, your many posts.
My car is accessorized with dog hair as one (or at a pinch) two German Shorthaired Pointer ride in the back. The sunshade I purchased is wonderful but rather large because it is make of a firm board (not a soft one which folds up to a small circle). A problem if the dog's in the back and I have to store it.
I think the Mercedes star on the front would be appropriate. Maybe we can get them after market. My brother has a Smart (3 years old) in Australia and doesn't have a star.
I wish the USA DOT would get their act together along with Smart management and get the hybrid here. I might be interested in a second one.
Overall, the Smart is fun, economical, easy to park and just darn CUTE!!!
I have to race my husband to the driver's seat.
Remember to add 10 minutes to every trip to talk with all the strangers who have no qualms in approaching you, grill you on economy and cost.

Bittersweet. We agree with Dune, great color choice! How has the car worked out for you so far?

We too got ours in Feb 08. Now going on 18k on the ode. and have had all the glitches known to occur on first production NA451 Smarts.

Dealer fixed all problems promptly and we got lots of free car washes Love the little car. A2Jack

The only issue we had was the gear shift jammed and wouldn't allow us to start. Called Smart and left a message with service manager who took his time getting back. In the mean time my husband called and suggested the old fashioned "rock the car a little". Not difficult in the Smart!. It worked! Drove to the dealer, they dropped me at work and fixed the problem straight away. Something about "re-teaching" the computer something.
I believe this is something which has happened to quite a few people.
A piece of the trim below the door came adrift which the sales person and I clipped back in and proceded to the free car wash also.

So far we are thilled. We've done about 6000 so you are way ahead of us.
