New from NoVA

New member here, I have known about these cars for a long time (but then again I like watching both top and fifth gear) and was excited about the prospect of them coming to the US, unfortunately I didn't get signed up since I wanted to be sure they were actually coming here (I have seen many products promised and never delivered), however now that they are most certainly here I have to go about the tricky process of trying to find one that isn't already sold or $20,000 due to demand.

When I get one I plan on using it as a delivery vehicle, Anyone else use one in this role yet? The economics work out rather well it like $475 per MPG for a Toyota Prius but only $333 per MPG for the Smart. the Cargo I carry is usually under 30lbs, so why buy more vehicle than I need.

I saw a comment recently that said 30% of Smarts in Europe were wearing corporate livery. My observations bear that out as being pretty close.

As a mini rolling billboard - they get more than their share of attention - even in Europe.

At the early stage of distribution in Switzerland, corporate sponsors will exchange "free" billboard on car for costs of maintenance. No more, alas...

A pharmacy in my area has 2 smart cars (2005 G&K converted models) that they use for delivery vehicles. You can read about it at smart car club of Idaho - News under the "The Medicine Shoppe uses Smart car to make deliveries - May 19, 2007" heading.

I thought it would make sense for a collage or university to advertise on them... "See how smart you would be if you went to our school?"
