Hopefully this message stops the dreaded "Our records indicate....."

Two weeks ago got my metalic-blue w/silver 2008 Passion from Smithtown NY. Got several people telling me what my vanity plate should be instead of the current one....

So far so good with the car. Took a 20 mile trip with wife and the two dogs and all did fit in with some wagging room left. (Golden and Black lab) One dog was sort of leaning on my shoulder but we did all fit in.

In a week will attempt the "oil change" at 1k miles. So far I think I must get the filter at the dealer.... as so far have not found any other place to get it. If this is the case it is the case. The dealer did say that parts outside of at a smart dealer were "non-existent". Not that I do believe that.... but so far it does look as if that is the truth.

Doubt I want to import parts... LOL...

Don

oil change

I am just wondering why you are doing an oil change at 1000 miles. I was told that the first change would happen at 8000 km.

I do like to change oil very often in a small engine. The first 1k miles gets a lot of the break in extra wear. An oil change does not cost me much and hopefully will allow the engine to last a lot longer. If it does not make that much a difference that is ok too.

Yes the book sez 10000 miles on pure synthetic oil but even the dealer suggested 5000 miles is a more intelligent choice.

Even with a synthetic oil some might think it a waste to change it more often than the book lists.... but it certainly cannot hurt and might just help a lot. So I lean to cleaner oil is a good thing.

To each their own.
