New owner and member intro...

I just picked up my 2008 Pure from Smart of Laguna Niguel this evening. It is a Black/Black with the only option being AC.

I am sure I will get more than I contribute from the forum. But, I will do my best to help when I can.

I have been interested in acquiring a Smart for as long as they have been available. I followed the Zap situation closely hoping to get one then. I also drove one of the 450s when a local dealer imported one for display.

Anyway, glad to see such a strong enthusiast community.

how long did you have to wait for your smart?

I forgot how long I waited...

I don't remember when I made my reservation. I actually placed two... they lost the first one and I ended up having to start over again. It was about 3 or 4 months after they first started taking reservations.

I came close to buying a used Cabrio. But, I decided I preferred the simplicity of the Pure with less potential for problems with electrical items. My only two wishes:
1. A standard manual transmission.
2. A diesel.

FWIW, when I got home, I discovered one of the hubcaps missing. I hope a call to the dealer will resolve it favorably.

I will be on the looking out for a radio from someone who pulled the stock radio out.

Welcome Brian! Check the Marketplace for radios - always a few for sale, plus we occasionally have folks willing to pass a radio along for just the shipping cost.

Thanks for all of the welcome messages and the radio suggestions

I need to get 3 posts before I seem to be able to reply to private messages. I am hoping this puts me over!

I have already recived a generous offer for a Radio 9 (whatever that means... not up to speed yet on the lingo yet). I will see if I can follow through on their offer.

I will also be reading opinions regarding some of the aftermarket kit options too. But, FWIW, I like the radios designed for the Smart... big buttons, easy to see, and simple -- most new aftermarket radios use poorly designed controls and complicated displays.

Thanks for everything folks.
