Soooo excited! Just signed all the papers on my orphan today. After all the waiting the hardest part is waiting until saturday to drive her home (first chance I can get my wife to drive me up there to pick it up)
Picked her up at Edison, many thanks again to Danny if you are reading this.
I had passed by awhile back and stopped in to look. Not much time to do anything, even test drive, but Danny put me on the orphan list and I told him I was still selling my other car so I had time.
Went and test drove one at CH friday (they are closer to home, Edison is closer to work) and decided I must have it. Got on their list too and with some luck my other car sold on saturday. I figured it would still be some time to wait but I sent an email to Danny to let him know I had sold my car and monday he contacted me to say that was all he was waiting to hear and he had my orphan for me.
So she is a silver/silver with all the options. Probably some things I wouldnt have picked if I ordered but Im happy to have them and be forced to not "cheap out" this time. This is my first new car in 15 years and Ive loved and watched the Smart's evolve since back in the "Swatchcar" concept days.
Now if saturday would just get here.....
I'll post up photos when I get home and can get them off my camera.
I know you will love it. I got mine Friday, April 4th. Hardest part is getting out of a parking lot. Everyone wants to look, ask "how much", and the oh-ah factor is huge. I made a U-turn in my driveway, just because I could..lol. Took awhile to realize that when I'm in the garage, the whole car is in the garage. We now have a lot more space between the laundry and the house door.
The shifting takes a little getting use to, but in a few minutes it feels natural. Been on the Houston freeways and felt totally safe and secure. Truthfully, it doesn't ride like a Mercedes and thankfully, doesn't COST like a Mercedes and you get to wave at the gas stations as you drive by.
Running a contest at work to get suggestions for names. I like to name my cars.
JThW8 - Congrats also! I'll keep an eye out for you when I'm over in your area. Just look for the silver/silver/black that's not yours. It's about time I'm getting some company down in our neck of the woods. I've already answered everyone's questions (have had mine since January), so you should have it easier.
Make sure you check out the New Jersey forum, if you haven't already.

When my wife and I met she drove a Hyundai Accent which everyone in her family called "The Speck" so we just figure this will get to be known as "Speck Jr"
I gotta go see if the licesnse plate "T Pants" is taken in NJ ;)
I acutally just got off the phone with my insurance agent who had no idea what I was talking about. It came up in her computer but she was still perplexed. I need to drive it by there when I get it home so she can see it now.

Woohoo, a local! I do pop over to the NJ forum. I live right off 322 and will be putting up 295 every day in her so Im sure you will see me around.
I've been going back and forth with NJ DMV trying to find something that's not already taken. It sure would be nice if our archaic state could put the database on line so we could do our own search.

Yeah, that would be nice. Seems almost every other state does it.
If nothing else I might just go with JThw8 (Jim Thwaite) All my family out in pittsbugh have cornered the market on the PA THW8 plates but I can get the NJ one.
I'm over by the hospital in Washingtown Twp. and use the A/C Expresway everyday. My daughter takes it over to Philly Airport alot - she volunteers with the USO over there and the cops know the car now and let her park in front of their HQ. Get use to all of the looks. We have a game, counting the doubletakes.
Congrats, JTw8! We're just back from a little ride and are finding new and great features all the time, it's an amazing little car. You are going to be so happy!
Haven't tried to figure out a license plate yet, but agree with you and Connelly, why can't NJ put that database on line?
