New to Smart-Might be buying 2 for the wife and me.

I have a 93 Dodge Dakota that is starting to give me troubles so I might trade her in for a Smart. My wife is interested in them also. The difference in gas savings just about pays for the Smart!
Anyways, Hi and hopefully I'll have my own Smart to talk about on here.
Thanks,
Soph

Well if you really want to make even some people on here drool, you could trade in that Dakota for a smart for the wife then call up these guys on this beautiful ride.

It's a 2004 smart roadster
Beverly Hills Motorcars - Smart

The roadster is Euro spec and was never imported to the US. Some leaked in by Military or some other source and they are almost pretty much impossible to find in the US. There's no speed limiter and it claims to get better mileage than our US spec fortwos. It has a sportscar body and a Mercedes Benz engine with a bit more power than the fortwos have.

Service is extremely limited so you're taking a large chance. Parts would have to be ordered from overseas and you'd have to find someone or shop willing enough to work on your car. If there's a shop in your area that'll do that then you'd be set.
Oh, and production on the roadster lasted from 2003 to 2005 with only 5000 cars coming off the assembly line.

It has a stiff price tag and it's in California but I think it's worth it for such a rare ride.

Welcome to the forum! Enjoy your future smart like I soon will!

Neon...still waiting on the fortwo.

P.S. to anyone who might buy this car, the rear bumper valence is missing, I'd ask about it or order another one

LOL The idea is to not spend 35k on a car. Cool car though. Were going tomorrow to see what they can do!

Go For It

I traded my Dakota Club Cab in on my smart cabriolet.
If you think about it, the smart is the same thing as a Club Cab, but without the long truck bed and big engine.

Well now that you say it...

Hardy har har...

To the original poster:

Yes, I know the idea is to spend less and there were at least 2 other smart roadsters for sale in the USA within the past 2 years. They were for dramatically less. If you were a car collector or didn't mind the price the vehicle would be perfect.

Hey if I had 35k to spend I would just pay cash for the 2 smarts we want and be done with it!
We are looking at a Grey cab with red interior. If we get a second one it might be a pure. Not sure about no power steering though. Anyone here have any experience with a pure w/o power steering? Thanks for the input!

At the 2009 Chicago Auto Show I was able to feel the steering on a pure and on a fully loaded cabrio with Power Steering (eps). Not really any difference with or without power steering. The car is sooo light that you could turn the wheels with the car off and wheel unlocked...

P.S. I just noticed that the roadster I showed you is missing its rear valence!
