New as of Tuesday- not dead yet!!

I purchased my Smart on Tuesday morning in Jacksonville and love it!! My question is...why do people feel the need to tell me I am going to die a horrible death in this car?? I mean really....people I know, people I don't, tell me my new car is a death trap!

If they only knew how safe I feel in it and how safe it actually is!!

Thanks for giving me a place to rant!!

Welcome!

I feel a safer in the smart than in many of the cars from my past, now some of those WERE real death traps

The Smart is the most misunderstood car around and of course there are those idiots who think bigger is better and smaller is a death wish. Well then perhaps you should dig deep into this forum and really seek out the threads that have living testimonies. For example, there is a person who rolled his Smart about 8 times in upstate New York and all that he got from the wreckage was a few bruises and a Smart tridion safety shell that stood up really well. And one more thing, those big SUV's roll over really easily and have their roofs cave in, there is proof. The youtube vids are very candid in that area as well.
i feel very safe in mine and the next time you get somebody who tells you the car is a death trap, find out about that story i told you about, and then share that with those naysayers. That will shut them up real fast and leave em speechless.
BTW here is that link to the thread, it is really living proof that the Smart is what it says it is.

Just smile and say your life insurance is all paid up and walk away......An evil laugh would be a good addition. Or ask if they want to play chicken...

I have given up on telling people I don't know how safe it is. They just want to spoil your fun. The people that are genuinely concerned about my safety know how safe it really is.

Educate them in as tactful of a way as possible. They are basing their opinion on this countrie's past experiences with some little cars (like the Yugo, Pinto, etc) I keep an 8 X 11 picture of the Tridion in my car and point out to them WHY this car's design, although small, is not only safe....but it truly an Escape Capsule compared to many other vehicles on the road.
The more the public is educated about this car, the less ignorance about it will abound....

Some people are just stupid, stupid, stupid. One lady I work with whole heartedly believes I and whoever else rides in my car will die in it. She tells everyone at work it's a death trap. She's just jealous, our boss loves it, and asks me hows it doing nearly everyday cuz he knows its my baby!

I just read a couple of accident accounts posted which I will use for future rebuttals! While I hate that folks had these misfortunes, the fact that they are still here to post their experiences is a beautiful thing!!

I feel quite proud of my choice as I expect the rest of you already do!!

Send them here for a testimonial of the not quite as safe 450
The after photos always look worse because of all the outside bits and pieces being stored inside after they clean up.
