New (Used) Smartie Girl

Hi y'all! We just bought a 2008 white smart passion cabriolet convertible. Loving it so far, ....but have had mishaps right out of the box- wacky ones! After having it for only 2 days, we decided to take a trip to San Antonio. Cruising down the highway, all of a sudden the hood comes undone and smacks up onto the windshield at 60 mph! Luckily, we were right up from the dealership after dragging the hood along the road (because we were on a one lane overpass). The dealership gets us in a rental car. 3 WEEKS LATER!!!we have our Zippy back!! Well...wait..theres more but it has a nice twist...after picking up zippy (yes..thats its name) we are stopped at a toll booth paying and...WHAM! we are hit from behind where the person didnt stop!! But whats weird was that we didnt even get pushed forward...so the brakes obviously are great..and after pulling off the road..now here is the great part you will all love...NOT A SINGLE SCRATCH!!!!!or dent, mark, etc!!! He gave us his insurance info and off we zoomed! However, my back is killing me and and have a horrible headache. Thats why I am writing this post at 2:30 am as I can't sleep!
So anyways..I take that that I will be safe in my Smartie!!
Peace, Love, and Smart Cars,....Beth

Talking from experience, you should have yourself checked out by the doctor

I had a similar situation many years ago and didn't go and have been paying for it for the last 40+ years

Don't delay

+ 1 on seeing the Doc, whiplash is no joke. Also have zippy checked by your dealer, if it was that hard you may have damage that you don't see. Broken clips or cracked parts. The dealer should check it for your safety sake.

You didn't specifically mention, but I am going to guess that you didn't get it from a smart center?
The delivery walk around includes securing the hood panel properly.
I would suggest you check out the "start smart guide videos"
section at that other smart forum for anything else they forgot to show you?

Glad to hear that you and your smartie made it out okay. I would definitely go to the doctor ASAP because if anything serious does come of it, you need their insurance to pay for it so you have to go pretty soon. Hope you're feeling better soon!
